The READ command searches system documentation directories for a file
with a given name, and if such a file is found, places you in the E
editor with the file in read-only mode.  For example, READ MONCOM
finds the file MONCOM.BH[S,DOC], which is the online version of the
Monitor command manual.

You must be logged in to give the READ command.  If you are already
in E, you can perform the equivalent of the READ command by typing
<filename>/D as the argument to a file-switching command.
