Conway's cellular-automata game, Life, is available on Datadiscs only.  For
somewhat curt instructions, R LIFE and type ?.  Note: The program requires

There is also a program for converting disk files from the format used by the
LIFE program into XGP files for spooling.  R LIFXGP for this.  LIFXGP scales
the formations as necessary in order to fit them on a maximum 8"-wide page
(1/4-inch margins); if the formations are very wide and moderately dense, the
resulting XGP file will probably overload the spooler, in which case you'll
have to use the L command of XGPSYN to list the XGP file.  Questions → DON.
