Dear Dr. Knobeil
\JHere is a new SAIL system. The tape was written in FAILSAFE, 9 track,
800 bpi. Unfortunately, the date format on the files lacks the DATE75
correction. If this bothers you, it should be easy enough to read in
all the files, run DATE75 over them, & redump them. Very sorry about the
delay in getting this back to you, but the AI lab lacks 9-track drives,
and I had to wait until a suitable occasion arose before making the tape.
The file FILES, on the tape, gives the names of all files,
together with short descriptions of each one.
The file TELLEM contains full directions about
how to put up an export SAIL. If I were putting up a system, I'd
get this file & read the pertinent sections before going further.
The AI lab doesn't have any spare copies of the SAIL user's manual.
However, copies may be obtained (for $2.50 each) from\.

\JIn addition, I am enclosing an up-to-date copy of our "incremental"
manual, which describes changes and additions to the language since
July 1973; some of these new features, such as record structures
and an efficient PRINT statement are quite useful. Also, I am
enclosing a copy of the BAIL user's manual, which describes a
source-level interactive debugging system for SAIL.
We really aren't set up here to generate bills for goods or services.
However, getting all this material into a shape suitable for export
\F1has\F0 been a fair amount of work, and a contribution of $50.00,
payable to the Stanford Artificial Intelligence Laboratory, would
be very much appreciated.\.
