The Canon is not yet ready for general consumption. The spooling
process is not yet simple. For complete documentation, READ CANON.
use it at your own risk - briefly...
If the Canon is not initialized, you have to DO CStart[can, sys] and
give rather complex instructions.
After it is initialized, you DO CPrint[can, sys] to run the spooling
program. CAN files are sent directly to the printer. Other files
are assumed to be text files for which you can specify a font. Use a FIX
font to have the entire SAIL character set. The default, fix25 gives 70,
fix30 gives 58 and fix20 gives 83 lines per page.
To print a DVI file, R CANTOR to produce a CAN file for the Canon.
For a TEX file, run PTEX to produce the DVI file.
You MUST watch your output being printed to catch any errors that
could make the Canon spew paper. Currently glitches in the line can
cause unpredictable errors. There are not yet title pages or page
headers, so leave no listings lying around. Do not print a file till
the last listing is finished, only one person may print a file at a time.
Documentation for all of the above can be found in CANON.RAS[up,doc]
Additional documentation on the Canon can be found in canon.doc[1,rob]
and in Canon manuals near the printer or in the office of the renown LTP.
